The Walters Files: LazerFace

You might think LazerFace is a parody of Cyclops, and you'd be right, but personality-wise I get my inspiration for him from one of my highschool gym teachers.  Dude looked just like Ric Flair.  In tiny shorts.

I've been putting LazerFace's file off because Jason (who I let run wild with the backgrounds of the faculty members in the Saturday Super Stories) and I had some conflicts of interest, particularly concerning the school before it was Super U.  But I think I've managed to stay vague enough in this file where I'm not stepping on too many of his toes.
Regardless, if you're following the comic and you're reading the SSS, you'll probably see things conflict now and then.  This is totally alright.  I don't want to limit Jason, and I don't want him to limit me.  Just pretend one is, like, a fanfic of the other.

But with that, I'm damn near out of Walters Files!  There's one more student, and one more teacher (whom I haven't even used in the comic yet), and that's it!  Once I rearrange the site, I may make a new section for Walters Files of miscellanous characters and villains, like Technosyde and King Carp and stuff.

As for what happens when I'm all out of characters?  I haven't figured that out, yet.  Ideally, I'd like to go to doing three comics a week.  But until this comic gets off the ground, that just might not be reasonable.

Incommodious

So, there's a story behind this particular strip.  In high school, this exact thing was said to me and my fellow gym class students, in this exact situation, by our gym teacher who dressed exactly like this and, to make it even creepier, he looked exactly like Ric Flair.  Even now it makes me laugh from time to time, and I thought I had better make a comic out of it.  I couldn't think of a third panel for it, but then again I don't really think it needs one.

There are only 10 strips left until the end of Chapter 2.  When it's done I'm going to be You-Tubifying the whole chapter and at the same time teaching myself how to draw in Manga Studio.  I'm hoping Chapter 3 will look the best yet, and I'll be able to get my digital art even closer to my hand-drawn stuff.
I've been hearing good things about Manga Studio, and I saw an example today from the artist at Penny Arcade that he did using the program, and it looked just as good as his Photoshop stuff; I gained some reassurance that I'm not going to have to master Photoshop just to compete in the world of webcomics, after all.

Staff Infection

Doing a little better this week.  Got out this weekend to Bok Tower, which is about an hour from my apartment.  And my wife ran across this incredible thing that we are planning to make a whole weekend out of during their "Hatsume Fair," which I gather is some sort of spring festival.  We had no idea such a place existed in Florida, let alone only a few hours from here.  Knowing there are things like this outside of Tourist Hell, Florida is helping me to come to terms with the reality that I may be living here for the next third of a century or so.   It's nice to have something to look forward to.

A short strip this week.  I had some ideas where I would introduce Dean Clobber, Disciplinary Head, in the third panel, and I wanted to give him a ridiculous "It's Clobberin' Time!"-esque catchphrase, but I drew a blank.  But, nevertheless, I like how it came out.

I think once I hit the end of Chapter One on the "official site" I'm going to ditch Interrupted Reality.  It looked promising at first, but it has yet to bear fruit.  I still plan on, after the end of Chapter Two here in another 23 strips or so, taking another hiatus to YouTube-ify the Chapter, with the goal of 2 movies a week, I think.  Maybe I'll spread them out to trick myself into thinking the sites are getting more attention than they truly are.

Anyhoo, please help to spread the Super U. love.  "Like" and / or "+1" this page with those little buttons over there, and "Like" and "Share" the links on your preferred social media sites.  Doing so will result in your gaining my utmost admiration.
